The Cook is responsible for preparing food items for daily meal service.


Description

Job Responsibilities



  • Prep, cook, deliver, and serve meals as necessary under the supervision of the Facility Director.
  • Set up food stations as assigned.
  • Operates all food production equipment safely and according to instructions.
  • Follows all food production standards and recipes for required items and ensures all cold and hold food products are handled properly according to health and safety guidelines.
  • Ensures proper timing and preparation of all foods as required for daily needs as communicated.
  • Returns all soiled utensils and equipment to proper areas. Ensures all standards for sanitation are adhered to including dishwashing and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
  • Assists and ensures all products are properly rotated, wrapped, labeled and dated.
  • Completes and submits paperwork to supervisor including but not limited to Daily Production Log to track menu items produced, served and leftover from each meal and meal counting sheets for USDA meal reimbursements; ensures information is accurate.
  • Maintain adequate inventory count of food items maintain, load and restock food items.
  • Reports on any equipment repairs to the supervisor
  • Responsible for ordering and shopping for all necessary food and supplies needed for the operation of the Non-Secure Detention Facility; maintains an accurate inventory of all food and supplies; monitors and controls waste.
  • Develop diverse menus that are nutritionally sound and meet or exceed regulatory or industry standards.
  • Ensuring a safe and secure work environment consistent with OCFS regulations.
  • Ensure health, safety, maintenance and sanitary conditions are met or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements in the kitchen, coolers, freezers, storage areas.
  • Wear appropriate equipment when assisting with the preparation or serving of food.
  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures; follows and supports agency mission, vision and values including participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.



Job Requirements



  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent. Culinary degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of food service experience required. Experience in school or residential setting preferred.
  • Serve Safe Food Handler certification required. Safe Serve Food Manager certification preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or ability to become certified.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.



Pay

$19.00 per hour to $20.75 per hour, full-time, non-exempt.
