Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua? We have a great opportunity for a Utility Technician based out of our Sharon, PA plant!

The Utility Technician position performs a wide variety of tasks necessary, but not limited to, work involved in the Distribution Department, and the installation and maintenance of distribution system piping, valves, hydrants, services, and appurtenances.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Operate and maintain water distribution system facilities, such as water mains, valves, hydrants, service lines, etc.
  • Operates and performs maintenance on all equipment and vehicles used in the maintenance of the water system. Uses tablet/computer to receive and process work orders and email. Performs housekeeping duties as assigned. Satisfactorily meets internal and external customer requirements.
  • Be physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs. Proper use and maintenance of tools, and equipment.
  • Responsible for the operation and proper maintenance of vehicles assigned.
  • Noting and reporting unusual conditions in the distribution system. Must be available for emergency work after regular working hours and weekends and for scheduled overtime.
  • All other duties as assigned and capable of increasing skills with experience and proper instruction.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL OR REGISTRATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a high school diploma or the GED equivalent at time of hire.
  • Must hold a valid U.S. driver's license at time of hire.
  • Must hold valid Commercial Driver's License or be capable of acquiring one within six months from date of hire.
  • Aqua may require applicant to pass reasonable tests-oral, written or practical-to determine his/her qualifications.
  • Must have a satisfactory work record (no more than one disciplinary occurrence within the last three years).
  • Must meet the physical qualifications established for this position. Must hold a Class E Distribution License - issued by the Pennsylvania DEP or obtain one within 2 years as specified in the bargaining unit agreement.
  • Must hold competent person certification or obtain within one year.

REPORTING LEVEL: Distribution/Service Manager

The starting rate of pay is $27.13 per hour.##

##Employees hired or entering the bargaining unit after 5/1/13 will initially receive a $3.00/hr. less than the applicable rate for all positions held or worked. The reduced starting wage shall be increased by $1.00/hr. each year until the employee is paid the full wage rate. Existing union employees of the Shenango Division who bid on this position will have their pay rates determined by the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement that is in effect as of the date of this posting.
