We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our Food Forensics team. In this temporary role, you'll play a vital part in preparing samples for testing, maintaining laboratory equipment and workspaces, and supporting analysts to ensure high-quality, timely results for our clients.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and label incoming samples for testing using lab equipment such as food processors, grinders, blenders, and balances.
Clean and maintain glassware, instruments, equipment, and Chemistry department work areas.
Monitor and maintain supplies, including a steady supply of distilled water.
Assist in packaging and shipping samples, equipment, or materials for outside testing or client return.
Support analysts in performing chemical tests and accurately document cleaning, calibrations, and maintenance.
Record daily refrigerator/freezer temperatures and verify equipment calibrations.
Safely handle and properly label hazardous waste in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Partner with other departments to ensure smooth lab operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Possible opportunity for the position to be extended a a longer period of time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Basic math skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication (reading, writing, and verbal).
Ability to stand for long periods and lift 10-20 lbs.
Manual dexterity and ability to distinguish colors.
Dependability, accuracy, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
