Summary:

The Information Technology Specialist IV / System Administrator provides advanced technical support and system administration for the Indian Health Service's Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) infrastructure. This role is responsible for maintaining server environments, ensuring system availability, implementing security protocols, and supporting platform upgrades and migrations.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support may include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of Data Operations Center (DOC), systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware and software upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
  • Planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Windows and Cloud infrastructure hardware/software which support RPMS systems and applications.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of RPMS systems/applications, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
  • The design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing electronic Health applications software.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to support Microsoft and Linux operating systems. Knowledge of other Microsoft products used to manage an enterprise operation. Knowledge of VMWare.
  • Knowledge of DCIM and tools used.
  • Basic knowledge of Visual Basic, .NET, C#, PowerShell and other programming / scripting languages. Ability to develop project management documentation. Has excellent interdepartmental communication skill (written, verbal, presentations).
  • Ability to work without guidance and the ability to resolve highly complex problems.
  • Ability to lead projects. Serves as subject matter expert for Shared Services Enterprise Datacenter information technology projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred; however, an associate degree or a combination of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years related technical experience in supporting information technology environment at the server/data center level.
  • Experience in industry standard data center physical security tools and applications.
  • Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiry and Credit (NACIC) background investigation
