Information Technology Specialist III / Database Administrator III

Summary:

The Information Technology Specialist III/ Database Administrator III is responsible for the administration, performance, and security of databases supporting the Indian Health Service's Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS).

Essential Job Functions:

• Support would include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc. Has the ability to design a database to the third norm. Ability to write disaster recovery plans. Has the ability to develop project management documentation. Has the ability to work with minimal guidance.
• Coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Windows and Cloud infrastructure hardware/software which support RPMS systems and applications.
• Maintain/troubleshoot the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of RPMS systems/applications, networks, and data through the analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

• Has the ability to design a database to the third norm.
• Ability to write disaster recovery plans.
• Has the ability to develop project management documentation.
• Has the ability to work with minimal guidance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree is preferred; however, an associate degree or a combination of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree.
• Minimum 3 years of related technical experience in supporting various database platforms data center level.
• Minimum of 3 years of relational database management experience.
• Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiry and Credit (NACIC) background investigation.
