Summary:

The Information Technology Specialist IV / Database Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of databases supporting the Indian Health Service's Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS). This role ensures the integrity, performance, and security of RPMS databases across multiple environments. Key responsibilities include database installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support would include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
  • Planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of UNIX and AIX infrastructure hardware/software which support RPMS systems and applications.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of RPMS systems/applications, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
  • The design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing electronic Health applications software.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of other Microsoft products used to manage enterprise operation.
  • Knowledge of VMWare.
  • Has the ability to design a database to the third norm.
  • Ability to write disaster recovery plans.
  • Has the ability to develop project management documentation.
  • Has the ability to work with minimal guidance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred; however, an associate degree or a combination of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related technical experience in supporting various database platforms data center level.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relational database management experience.
  • Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiry and Credit (NACIC) background investigation.
