(IDT),provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DoD), is seeking a Software Test Engineer Intern to be based in our Arlington, VA office. This Software Test Engineer will work with a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers to solve some of the DoD's toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space.
Overview:
IDT seeks to add a Software Test Engineer Intern that will work with systems and software engineers to develop and implement automated testing solutions for IDT programs in the Aviation domain. This position requires a dynamic individual who can contribute to IDT's automated test and analysis processes and technologies. IDT is seeking a self-starter, who can communicate effectively and work well in a team environment. This position offers an engineer the opportunity to utilize their knowledge and talents as part of a collaborative team, developing ATRT and applying ATRT technology to create automated test and analysis solutions for tactical weapon systems.

Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement automated testing strategies using automated testing solutions, such as IDT's ATRT Test Manager, SmartBear's TestComplete, or open-source test tools such as Cypress or Selenium
- Automate software system operations by understanding customer and program requirements
- Design, build and execute end-to-end and regression automation tests for tactical defense systems
- Generate status reports for test results and associated issues
- Support and enhance the existing testing process by suggesting continuous improvement initiatives
- Evaluate and analyze automation metrics
- Work with minimal supervision to implement best-in-class solutions
- Work closely with software developers to ensure top-notch software quality, reliability and functionality using highly effective test strategies
- Collect metrics required to calculate efficiencies and return on investment (ROI) attributable to test automation
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program with a major in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cyber security, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering
Required skills:
- Experience with software testing, test automation, and test tools
- Understanding test automation design patterns, and software testing principles and methodologies
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Ability to quickly learn new applications and tools
Preferred skills:
- Experience with Test Automation or Integration and Test (I&T) of a tactical defense system
- Ability to develop software tests for software written in C/C++, Java, JavaScript or Python
- Software development skills with C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, GIT
- Experience with requirement tracking systems (i.e. DOORS, Jira)
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies
- Proficiency with source code control systems (i.e. GIT, SVN) and bug tracking systems (i.e. Jira, Bugzilla)
- Proficiency with Linux operating environment
