Director of Software Engineering - Business Applications (Remote)

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Software Engineering to lead our Order Management Technology Stack. This role is a key part of the Technology leadership team, responsible for driving the development and integration of systems that support the end-to-end order lifecycle. The Director will focus on building scalable solutions that enhance revenue growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate combines strong enterprise systems experience, Salesforce expertise, and modern software engineering practices, with a proven ability to collaborate across Commercial, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

Order Management & Business Applications

  • Drive the roadmap and delivery of lead-to-order systems with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and scalability.

  • Collaborate with Finance, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Engineering teams to improve order processing, billing, renewals, and revenue recognition workflows.

  • Support the definition and tracking of policies, SLAs, and metrics to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Salesforce.com & Business Systems

  • Oversee the Salesforce.com ecosystem including Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Health Cloud, Experience Cloud, and integrations.

  • Ensure Salesforce architecture, governance, and security align with business needs.

  • Support integration efforts between Salesforce and adjacent platforms (ERP, Order Management, Marketing Automation, Data Warehouses).

  • Promote user adoption and continuous improvement through training and change management.

Software Engineering & Technology Leadership

  • Lead a team of engineers, administrators, and architects in building and maintaining business-critical applications.

  • Promote best practices in agile development, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native architecture.

  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and accountability.

  • Evaluate new technologies and vendors to enhance the tech stack supporting order management.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and mentor high-performing teams with a focus on career growth and team health.

  • Align systems strategy with business objectives and scalability goals.

  • Manage budgets and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective delivery.

  • Communicate technology initiatives clearly to stakeholders and translate them into business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise applications or software engineering, with 3+ years in a leadership role.

  • 8+ years of Salesforce.com experience, including leadership across multiple clouds (Sales, Service, CPQ, ideally Marketing or Experience).

  • Experience managing Salesforce strategy and delivery at scale, ideally in a regulated industry such as life sciences.

  • Strong understanding of lead-to-order processes and CRM/ERP/billing system integrations.

  • Solid grasp of modern software development practices, APIs, and cloud platforms.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
