Summary:

The Director of Leadership Gifts, Southern Region plays a critical role in advancing MaineHealth's philanthropic mission by leading major gift strategy and execution for MaineHealth's Southern Region. This position manages a team of frontline fundraisers and a portfolio of major prospective donors. The Director serves as a strategic partner to clinical and administrative leaders. The Director is responsible for cultivating and soliciting leadership and principal gifts, developing service line partnerships and major donor strategies, and driving performance against annual fundraising goals in alignment with system-wide priorities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree, preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: Previous development experience in a non-profit environment at a level normally acquired through 10-15+ years of experience.
  4. Excellent communication, writing, research and public speaking skills required.
  5. Experience in current development techniques and concepts for cultivating and soliciting major gifts and planned gifts, as well as a proven track record of successfully securing leadership and principal gift commitments.
  6. Advanced interpersonal skills required to negotiate/work effectively with a variety of potential donors and internal leaders at MaineHealth on complex and sensitive issues.
  7. Knowledge of charitable giving vehicles, including life income arrangements, estate gifts, and foundations.
  8. Knowledge of industry standards and leading institutions.
  9. Proven ability to maintain the highest standards in data integrity and security, and donor confidentiality.
  10. Experience with regular budget and contract review processes.
  11. Supervisory and instructional experience required.
  12. Intermediate computer/Microsoft Suite skills.
