The Communications Specialist works with NCBE's communications staff to develop and deliver clear, consistent, and effective messaging that supports NCBE's mission, vision, and strategic plan. This position is especially focused on providing copyediting and proofreading of NCBE materials, while also contributing to the creation, coordination, and distribution of organizational communications across a variety of channels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Copyedits and proofreads a wide range of materials, including external communications, leadership correspondence, technical and research reports, administration manuals, conference materials, blog posts, and website content.
  • Ensures all communications meet editorial standards for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and inclusivity, and reflect NCBE's voice.
  • Provides writing and editorial support for external and internal communications across stakeholders and departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years relevant experience required, including significant copyediting and proofreading experience.
  • Experience with legal terminology and citation preferred.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally. Must demonstrate mastery of English grammar and usage.
  • Time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat required.



The specialist may work remotely. NCBE will consider applicants from the following states: FL, IA, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MN, NC, NE, NJ, NM, NV, OK, PA, TX, WA, and WI.
