Your Role at Acousti

The Construction Cost Control Manager oversees the financial management of complex construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic goals. This role supports internal departments and stakeholders by developing accurate cost estimates, monitoring actual spending, managing change orders, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and mitigating financial risk throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings analytical expertise, construction finance knowledge, and a proactive, collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in developing project budgets and forecasts based on historical data, scope of work (SOW), and market trends
  • Monitor actual costs against budgeted figures and forecast future expenditures and report to executive team on findings
  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis and deliver timely, detailed financial reporting to leadership
  • Review draw requests, inspect project progress, and guide resolution of construction cost concerns
  • Evaluate contractor capabilities, schedules, and feasibility reports during project preplanning
  • Identify financial risks across all project phases and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Support bid and procurement processes by reviewing proposals and advising on cost implications
  • Manage change orders, including assessing scope changes and their impact on overall budget
  • Oversee construction on company-owned assets or title-reclaimed properties
  • Maintain clear documentation and cost-related records throughout the lifecycle of each project
  • Serve as a key liaison to the draws team and provide subject matter expertise on all construction-related questions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, estimators, finance teams, and executives
  • Continuously evaluate and improve cost management tools, workflows, and systems

What We're Looking for in You

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 5+ years of construction cost control or quantity surveying experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, cost tracking, and financial forecasting
  • Strong working knowledge of construction feasibility, draw inspections, and scope analysis
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) and financial systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks)
  • Exceptional analytical skills and financial acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to financial transparency
  • Ability to manage multiple high-value projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credentials
  • Master's degree in Construction Management or Business Administration (MBA)
  • Experience managing cost controls on both internal capital improvement projects and client-facing contracts
  • Background in assessing and managing financial risk across multi-phase construction portfolios
