Hourly Pay Range:

A Brief Overview:
Under minimal supervision, develops, configures and implements interfaces. Develops, tests and troubleshoots various interfaces. Devises or modifies complex interfaces and interface code to solve complex problems considering architecture, workflow and form of desired results. Provides the best or optimal coding interfaces. Works with the appropriate business representatives, coordinating tasks related to the interface engine and application installation, including development and testing to ensure that departmental data and transactions (from those ancillaries/departments that have their own systems) are received and interpreted correctly via interfaces. Analyzes and revises existing interfaces and documentations as necessary. Creates, maintains and modifies necessary documentation.
Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of interface development activities.

What you will do:
  • Assists with researching customer, vendor and third-party specifications to identify and clarify requests for new interfaces, extracts, communication protocols and other requirements. Researches requested changes to ensure feasibility (i.e. confers with experts). Defines general specifications for requested results.
  • Works collaboratively with Integration/Interface Architect, IT Analysts, Business Analysts and other ISS staff to understand detailed needs of end-users and configures software to support those needs. Consults with end-users to assess data flow, process and their impact in interfaced environments.
  • Codes standard HL7 interfaces and file transfers through an interface engine product according to specifications. Modifies interface code as required.
  • Configures, tests, manages and troubleshoots interfaces in HIS and other major ancillary systems as permitted and required.
  • Creates testing plans with end-users to ensure the software performs error and bug free through all phases of testing.
  • Monitors application data between systems and resolves any data errors found.
  • Maintains and monitors production and non-production interfaces and provides support and resolves problems as needed. Implements recovery procedures when necessary for interfaces created. Conducts routine maintenance and enhancements to provide integrity, security/confidentiality and availability of data. May partner with more senior team members based on complexity of assignment.
  • Creates documentation to ensure effective interface operations and support. May assist with preparing charts, tables, process diagrams and interface data maps to aid in the analysis of interface development; organizing and developing programming and analysis tasks
  • Strictly follows the change control procedures during development and migration from test to the production environment.
  • Coordinates daily work to balance multiple priorities and requests; ability to perform multiple activities and tasks, involving multiple parties.
  • Has in-depth knowledge and experience in interfaces and programming development; acquiring higher level knowledge and skills around non-HL7 v2.0 integration approaches
  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues and technology to improve products/services or processes
  • Resolves complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist
  • Works independently; receives minimal guidance
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
  • May lead the work of project teams
  • Contributes to process and overall department improvements
  • Represents the level at which career may stabilize for many years or even until retirement
  • Strong customer service orientation; ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience

What you will need:
  • Bachelors Degree Required Or
  • Masters Degree Preferred
  • 3 Years previous experience in IT Or
  • 7+ Years of relevant technical IT experience And
  • 1 Year in data analysis, file layouts, data structures, programming languages And
  • 1 Year experience in interface engines and tool sets
  • Knowledge of HL7 standards Version 2.X and 3.0, EDI, X12, File Transfer Protocols and data exchange methodologies
  • Skills in coding new data communications, changes/enhancements
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)
