The Senior Compensation and HR Analyst at Essential Utilities serves a critical role in both the design and management of executive and broad-based compensation programs and the analysis of human resources data to support strategic decision-making. This individual contributor position reports directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer and works in close collaboration with external Executive Compensation Consultants to support the development and execution of competitive, shareholder-aligned compensation strategies.

The analyst is recognized as a subject matter expert in compensation strategy with advanced analytical capabilities to support data-driven decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. They ensure alignment with company objectives and evolving regulatory requirements while benchmarking compensation practices against peer organizations. Additionally, the analyst plays a vital role in the preparation of materials for the Executive Compensation Committee and engages in in-depth analysis of public filings to support executive pay decisions.

In parallel with their executive compensation responsibilities, the analyst supports the broader HR function through data analysis and reporting for both Board and Executive Management of Essential Utilities. They deliver actionable insights by interpreting workforce data, identifying trends, and recommending improvements to key HR programs, services and processes across HR operations.

Responsibilities

Executive Compensation

  • Participate in the design and management of Essential's executive compensation programs, ensuring alignment with business strategy, shareholder expectations and employee retention.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on executive compensation principles, incentive plans, stock administration, and broad-based compensation programs.
  • Partner with Executive Compensation Consultants and the CHRO to develop program recommendations and provide detailed financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Prepare materials and analysis for the Executive Compensation Committee meetings, including benchmarking, pay for performance assessments and regulatory disclosures.
  • Prepare the CD&A portion of the annual Proxy statement in partnership with Legal and Finance

HR Analytics

  • Analyze and interpret HR data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and deliver data-driven recommendations, including automation and AI related enhancements to improve HR operations.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting and dashboards to HR leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to identify opportunities to streamline reporting and improve data accuracy and usability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in compensation analysis or HR roles with a focus on executive compensation.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and analytical skills
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of compensation survey methodologies and market benchmarking.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) preferred.
