RAND is seeking a Manager of Development Operations as a leader for its donor database systems. This position will oversee the operations of the donor database, including reporting, list and data management, gift processing, and gift coordination. This role requires a business-minded skill set, with robust experience in gift administration, CRMs, project management and revenue analytics.

This position will work closely with the VP of Development, frontline fundraisers, and fundraising operations to contribute to the overall goals and fundraising objectives of RAND. Additionally, this position will work regularly across departments, translating and advocating for fundraising needs to partners across RAND, especially in finance, legal, and research finance operations. This position reports to the Sr. Executive Director, Development Operations.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise the donor database team and oversee the database functions performed by all Development staff.

  • Work with Development's executive team to align database and operations infrastructure and reporting needs with overall strategies for fundraising objectives.

  • Collaborate with RAND's finance, legal, and research operations on complex matters related to gift acceptance and coordination procedures, gift agreements, and fundraising reporting and counting guidelines.

  • Participate in annual business planning by preparing reports to estimate fundraising projections and determine fundraising goals.

  • Collaborate with prospect management to set strategy and develop frontline fundraiser metrics and progress reporting to key internal stakeholders.

  • Oversee the customization and usage of Salesforce in Development, ensuring all projects and enhancements are appropriately prioritized and support the overall fundraising goals; proactively find opportunities to integrate fundraising functionality in Salesforce with the RAND-wide use of the CRM.

  • Determine strategy and set landscape for how Development utilizes Salesforce applications and how best to integrate non-Salesforce tools into department workflows.

  • Define, document, and ensure adherence to database processes including gift processing, gift administration, pipeline management and funder engagement tracking.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in data management and data analytics

  • Experience developing and executing project management plans

  • Knowledge of financial accounting and fundraising counting methods strongly preferred

  • Sophisticated operating knowledge of fundraising database software or Salesforce strongly preferred

  • Ability to translate fundraising needs into technical output

  • Ability to train others and give clear explanations as needed

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • 3 years of supervisory experience or 5 years of team/project leadership experience

Education

Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.

Experience

6-8 years of relevant experience required.

Salary Range: $102,800-$156,500

RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity. The salary range includes base pay plus RAND's sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken).
