The
Counseling Center assists NC State students experiencing personal, academic or vocational problems. The goal of the Counseling Center is to provide students with professional counseling services and outreach to help them cope with issues that may impede successful academic performance. The Counseling Center also offers crisis intervention and psychological/ psychiatric assessment as well as consultation with others who have concerns about the mental/ emotional state of NC State students. Our services are primarily short term in nature and we make referrals to other helping professionals and community agencies as appropriate. Members of the counseling center commit to:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented temporary marketing and communications coordinator who will assist with marketing and communication efforts and act as a liaison between the NC State Counseling Center and the Division of Academic and Student Affairs Marketing and Communications (
DASA MarComm) team. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for crafting visual communication materials using existing brand-compliant graphics from a library of designs to meet the Counseling Center's communication needs. You will also be responsible for editing and writing materials for digital marketing channels, as well as updating the Counseling Center's WordPress website. This position is ideal for a professional eager to contribute and collaborate with marketing and communication professionals on impactful projects in a higher education environment.
Key Responsibilities
Graphics (60%)
- Use branded templates in Canva and/or Adobe to create digital and print visual communication assets used for event promotion, social media, presentations, signage and more to meet departmental strategic goals.
- Refine unit content for assets and project requests.
- Assist unit in maintaining brand consistency across various platforms.
- Prepare and package files for both digital and print production and deliver to vendors with specs of publishing instructions as needed.
- Maintain file organization and accessibility.
- Reinforce brand compliance throughout all creative.
- Collaborate with DASA MarComm on unique, high-level graphic design requests.
Copyediting (30%) and
Copywriting (5%)
- Review, proofread and/or edit copy produced by the unit for various channels, audiences and intended outcomes.
- Write effective promotional messages for marketing collateral and websites following NC State's editorial brand style guide.
- Write articles for submission to DASA MarComm for publication in DASA News, newsletters or other formats with minimal input from the unit.
- Coordinate with DASA MarComm on feature articles and content review prior to publication.
Website Management (5%)
- Act as a website editor within WordPress on existing pages to modify copy, layouts and navigation to meet your unit's needs.
- Coordinate with the DASA Marketing and Communications team on new pages and technical issues.
General
- Collaborate as a liaison between the Counseling Center and DASA MarComm to ensure projects align with institutional branding guidelines, strategic and departmental goals.
- Advise unit on marketing and communication best practices.
- Use a project management platform to manage and move projects forward.
- Collaborate with DASA MarComm on unique, high-level project requests for design, multimedia, writing, social media and strategy.

Minimum Experience/Education |
- Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, business, visual communication or a related field (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).

- Ability to work within an organization's brand guidelines.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively across various teams.
- Experience updating and/or developing website content.
