Division of Information Technology Job Description
We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled Linux System Administrator to join the Division of IT at the University of Missouri, where you'll be a key contributor in supporting and improving the university's enterprise infrastructure. This role is focused on maintaining the health and security of business-critical systems, automating routine tasks, and supporting both on-prem and cloud environments. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a service-oriented environment. Shift
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required - Experience maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting Linux systems in an enterprise environment - Familiarity with enterprise security practices and a strong focus on maintaining secure systems - Strong networking and storage fundamentals - Strong written and verbal communication skills for team collaboration, customer support, and documentation - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible environment Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with MySQL and basic database administration - Experience with web support tools: Apache, Nginx, Tomcat - Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios) and logging platforms (e.g., Splunk, Elastic) - Experience with Git, Puppet, and Ansible or similar tools - Familiarity with vCenter or other hypervisor environments Anticipated Hiring Range
