Summary Job Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) implements the nursing process for all patients, from infancy through geriatrics, in accordance with Kentucky Nursing Laws, Baptist Health Louisville policies, and national professional standards. The RN is accountable for delivering safe, high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care that promotes positive outcomes. Responsibilities include performing and documenting comprehensive assessments and reassessments, developing individualized plans of care with measurable goals, and collaborating with inter-professional teams and community resources to ensure effective transitions of care. The RN implements physician orders, provides timely interventions, manages emergencies, educates patients and families, and practices safe medication administration. Evaluation of patient response is ongoing, with care plans modified accordingly and communicated clearly to the healthcare team. The RN applies clinical reasoning, establishes priorities, organizes workload, and provides accurate handoffs while delegating tasks appropriately. Serving as a role model and resource, the RN facilitates orientation of new staff, participates in shared governance councils, and supports process improvement.
