Technology Manager - Workforce Center

Job Summary
Under the guidance of the Director, the Technology Manager leads the strategy, development, and administration of the Workforce Center's comprehensive technology ecosystem, driving digital innovation to support the Center's mission, revenue goals, and growth trajectory. This role oversees the design, implementation, and optimization of a modern tech stack for virtual learning, business operations, and customer engagement. The manager ensures operational excellence across platforms, aligns technology with strategic goals, and delivers exceptional IT service to more than 1,000 students, instructors, and staff annually. This is a position focused on both hands-on systems management and high-level planning to expand the Center's impact and technological Capabilities.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Manage student-facing systems including Canvas (LMS), DestinyOne (or future registration platforms), Salesforce, Zoom/WebEx, website infrastructure including WordPress, and platforms for virtual labs and digital courseware. Enhance user experience, optimize system performance, and coordinate vendor relationships to support scalable, high-quality learning.

  • Oversee core business technologies such as email marketing, customer engagement tools, digital badging, and evaluation platforms. Ensure seamless integration, accurate data, workflow automation, and continuous improvement across the technology stack.

  • Provide responsive first line IT support and services to over 1,000 users annually-including students, instructors, and staff-ensuring platform reliability, accessibility, and user satisfaction.

  • Lead technology projects that support program expansion and operational growth. Oversee all phases from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timelines.

  • Supervise technical staff responsible for systems support, data operations, and virtual learning infrastructure. Set clear performance goals, foster professional development, and promote a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

  • Collaborate with internal and University stakeholders to uphold data security, accessibility, and compliance, while serving as the primary point of contact for SLU IT Services and external vendors.

  • Manage licensing and lifecycle operations for student-facing software and virtual labs.

  • Monitor system usage, maintain documentation, streamline workflows, and contribute to long-term technology planning to support Center growth and efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated success managing enterprise IT systems, cross-functional teams, and digital transformation initiatives within education or nonprofit environments.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead complex technology initiatives from planning through implementation.

  • Proficient in supporting SaaS platforms, website content management systems, learning technologies, and virtual environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce, including CRM administration, data management, user support, and platform integration across business systems.

  • Technicalexpertise in HTML, JavaScript, JSP, CSS, FTP, APIs, XML, PHP and database tools including SQL for system integration and data operations.

  • Skilled in vendor management, software evaluation, and aligning technology solutions to business goals through strong communication and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in IT, including management experience.

Remote/In-PersonExpectations

This position will require the individual towork primarilyin the office, with the flexibility toworkup to one day per week remotely upon completion of the first 6 months of initial onsite training and familiarizing with departmentworkand operations in compliance with the requirements of the SLU Remote StaffFlexibleWorkPolicy.
