Tesla is seeking a Sensor Integration Engineer to support Optimus. The Sensor Team is responsible for architecting, designing, validating and integrating state-of-the-art sensing technologies for Tesla Bot, supporting manipulation and locomotion. As a Sensor Integration Engineer for Tesla Bot, you will be responsible for overall performance of the sensing system and its features at any point in the product life cycle, serve as the owner of a given sensing system to address any issues discovered from development through deployment, understand and debug hardware and software interactions from prototyping through product launch, and manage priorities and support a host of projects simultaneously.Come join the Tesla Robotics team and be a part of the new future.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for overall functional and performance readiness of the sensing system and its features at any point in the product life cycle
- Distill sensor product requirements into constraints and actionable engineering systems design discussions
- Host cross-functional sensor design discussions with electrical, software, manufacturing, Translate sensor design discussions into design documents in the form of system block diagrams, functional requirements, and performance requirements
- Define and debug hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment
- Define an integration test plan for sensing hardware products or software features with integration milestones that focus on de-risking product or feature deployment and align with the program timeline
- Execute initial sensor bring-up and integration testing at the vehicle level to validate system design assumptions
- Ensure sensing system is characterized across a host of environments
- Support system validation teams in developing electrical and software test plans
- Serve as the owner of a given sensing system and central point-of-contact for any issues during development or deployment
- Understand and highlight impacts of electrical, software, or process changes
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering with 5-10 years of experience or equivalent experience
- 5-7+ years of experience in systems design, systems architecture, systems integration, or related field
- Hands-on technical experience debugging complex subsystems involving network microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or equivalent tools for modeling, data visualization and statistical analysis
- Understanding of hardware and software development process
- Experience with sensor design & characterization (Inertial sensors, touch sensors, force sensors preferred)
- Experience with version control tools such as Git, SVN or equivalents
- Experience in failure analysis, HARAs, and fault trees

Expected Compensation
$118,320 - $273,480/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
