POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of food and beverage will be responsible for providing support and strategic direction to the overall food and beverage functions of the hotel including a full-service restaurant, quick service restaurant, seasonal pool operation, and hotel banquets. Additionally, this person will develop programming, training, and standards, while leading key projects to successful implementation and completion.

The Director will effectively oversee the Food and Beverage operations to ensure achievement of overall financial results, increased profitability, and guest and ownership satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Oversee all aspects of restaurant, hotel, and event operations at the hotel to ensure excellence in guest service, hospitality, and food quality.
  • Drive financial performance of the restaurant by maximizing revenues and controlling COGS, labor, and expenses inclusive of monthly inventory.
  • Provide a positive work environment for staff members by giving them the tools they need to be successful with open, honest, and direct communication.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety and perform needed repairs and maintenance promptly.
  • Provide effective leadership for management and culinary teams by being engaged in daily operations, providing direction and support to achieve goals.
  • Training: Ensuring all brand and department specific training requirements are met, and training is documented and retained.
  • Service Standards: Monitors Food and Beverage service at the hotel. Monitors secret shopper, and other service score/customer feedback programs and reporting and makes recommendations based on findings. Performs regular on-site inspections of Food and Beverage operations for evaluation, training, and support. Works collaboratively with Managers, and Hotel General Manager to determine and implement proper service strategy.
  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation amongst all team members
  • Utilize budgets to meet financial obligations
  • Develops and implements food and beverage plan
  • Hiring: Work closely with the F&B Recruiter and HR to hire sufficient staff for all outlets at the hotel.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of progressive Food and Beverage management experience at a senior level with back of the house and front of the house operations, ideally with independent restaurant experience, as well as catering, banquets and general hotel responsibilities.
  • Hotel management experience is preferred.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Strong professional presence.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven ability to affect change through influence.
  • Strong mentoring and team development skills.
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to implement systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective operations.

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives.

Steamboat area base salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must stand for long periods of time
