Position Summary

The Assistant Technical Production Manager will oversee and implement all technical aspects relating to the Joan B. Kroc Theatre, maintain the venue and facilitate all technical elements of rehearsals and performances, meet with clients and provide them with outstanding customer service for all theatre rentals as well as facilitate the technical needs of Church at the Kroc, and Event rental clients.

Essential Functions



  • Collaborate with the Technical Production Manager in maintaining facility quality and integrity pertaining to, but not limited to lighting equipment, sound equipment, soft goods, shop organization, stage cleanliness and safety.
  • Provide technical support for all performances as pertains to scenic elements, sound reinforcement, and lighting to meet production specifications while maintaining quality customer service.
  • Facilitate production load in/out. Delegate crew duties and responsibilities as pertains to operating positions for productions.
  • Effective communication and interaction with client production staff and performers.
  • Consult with Theater & Events Director, Technical Production Manager, and Front of House Manager to assess and meet the technical and safety needs of the theater and individual clients.
  • Research and purchase supplies and/or equipment needed to sustain theater operations and process invoices as per TSA protocols.
  • Hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising technical theater staff with the aid of the Technical Production Manager.
  • Work cooperatively with all Kroc program Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and staff, facilitating the technical needs of Church at the Kroc, Kroc Programs, and Event rental clients.
  • Be supportive of the overall success of the center as a member of the Kroc Center Management Team. Provide support for facilities management, clients, and members in the handling of communication of on-site incidents.
  • Maintain safety standards and procedures for a safe work environment. Report harmful problems to Kroc Facilities Manager.
  • See that staff injury reports, liability reports, and workers comp forms are filed and completed in a timely manner in adherence to TSA policy.
  • Know, explain and exemplify the mission, purpose, and values of the Kroc Center and The Salvation Army.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
  • Must be in good physical health and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the program.
  • Perform other assignments/duties as directed.


Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift to 10lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, cell phone, and land-based phone.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Two to five years' experience with technical aspects of live performances or BA in Technical Theatre.
  • Outstanding comprehensive technical knowledge of all theatrical elements.
  • Willingness and understanding of working weekend and evening hours.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse population.
  • Leadership ability to supervise team under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism.
  • Must attend staff, child safety, and other trainings as directed.

  • Practical and comprehensive knowledge of all theatrical elements.
  • Friendly, inviting, self-motivated, even-tempered and adaptable.
  • Ability to work with, direct and relate with co-workers, members, clients, and guests and maintain a professional approach to problems in a fast - paced, high pressure environment.
  • Proactive and able to function effectively without supervision.

Education
Bachelors of Theatre (required)
Experience
2 - 5 years: Minimum Experience With Technical Aspects Of Live Performance. (required)
