Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative 2D Materials Synthesis Chemical Engineer to join our defense technology team. Responsibilities include the design and implementation of chemical processes, instrumentation and equipment to ensure effectiveness in process engineering and design to bring manufacturing/production efforts to scale with maximum efficiency and productivity. Performs trials, tests and/or experiments to support engineering, production and/or R&D activities. Works to problem solve equipment, systems, and materials quality. Develops and recommends new process formulas and technologies to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality. Establishes operating equipment specifications. This role involves working closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance production of 2D materials.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

* Synthesize 2D materials utilizing established processes.

* Develop new processes for 2D materials synthesis to improve efficiency and quality.

* Perform materials characterization for quality assurance.

* Collect, process, and troubleshoot experimental data for process improvement.

* Maintain and improve equipment set up, conduct design of experiments, and independently design and execute synthesis experiments.

* Properly handle Category 1 hazardous waste materials.

* Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

    At least 5 years of related experience with a B.S., 3 years experience with a M.S., Ph.D. without experience, or equivalent work experience in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related field or equivalent work experience with a focus on materials synthesis and process development.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Proven experience in research and development related to design, testing, and modeling materials chemical synthesis processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong knowledge of the physical principles underlying chemical synthesis processes for synthesis development and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Strong mentoring and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
  • Experience handling hazardous materials.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of materials characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
  • Knowledge of RF materials and characterization techniques.
  • Experience handling Category 1 hazardous materials.


Global Comp

$90,000 - $160,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
