Responsibilities

We are seeking a Tax Accountant who will be stepping into this newly created role with in the Internova Tax Team. This position will be responsible for ensuring indirect tax compliance are efficient, on time and accurate, while minimizing the company's tax liabilities and exposures. This role will work closely with internal accounting team and external advisors.

This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the NYC Midtown office with other team member at least 2 days a week and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

    Maintain all indirect tax filing due dates and filing frequencies; regularly review for necessary changes or updates
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns for all business units
  • Prepare tax returns for other indirect tax types as required
  • Update and prepare business licenses renewals and applications
  • Monitor nexus and increasingly complex reporting and registration requirements
  • Resolve all tax notices, questionnaires, and inquiries received from tax authorities and other regulatory bodies for assigned tax types
  • Prepare well organized, detailed, and conclusive tax research for indirect tax topics as needed
  • Collaborate closely with AP staff and Controllers and other key systems and process owners to define, document, and implement tax accruals processes, policies, and controls to mitigate indirect tax risk
  • Provide tax account documentation
  • Assist with month-end closing and tax account reconciliation
  • Review W9, W8 and exemption certification submission from vendors or customers
  • Assist with annual non-income tax compliance, including application of US certificate of Residency, form 1042/1099 filings


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • 2 years of state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm, tax services firm or similar industry experience
  • Experience in indirect (sales & use) tax compliance, research, and consulting
  • Familiarity with basic tax research techniques (RIA, CCH)
  • Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus
