Assumes a leadership role in the program and courses of which they are teaching; demonstrates teaching excellence; participates in recognized activities of scholarship; participates in service within Bryan College of Health Sciences (BCHS) and in the community; and is a member of a professional organization. Demonstrates implementation of the mission, vision, goals and values of BCHS as well as the philosophy of the division in which they are assigned. Assumes an active role in the systematic evaluation of the program/BCHS and accreditation activities. Responsible for development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the theoretical and clinical/lab components of assigned courses.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Leads classroom and/or clinical/lab activities according to BCHS policies, course credits, course outcomes and available resources; facilitates and provides instruction to students; and assesses student learning in the classroom and /or clinical setting.

3. *Maintains currency of course content/materials by planning, delivering, assessing, evaluating and systematically updating all assigned courses.

4. *Maintains professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues and serves in faculty roles of advisor, mentor, role model, advocate, facilitator and competent educator and practitioner.

5. *Manages the education environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience while utilizing instructional methods that promote critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, understanding of evidence-based practice, and lifelong learning.

6. Participates in systematic evaluation of the program and BCHS.

7. *Develops as a scholar by participating in scholarly activities such as research, curriculum development, publishing, professional presentations and program evaluation.

8. *Engages in professional development both as an educator and related to area of expertise

9. *Engages in service to the college and the profession.

10. *Assists with program and BCHS activities including those related to accreditation processes and procedures, admission and evaluation of the program and BCHS.

11. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

12. *Participates in shared governance through meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

13. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree in nursing required. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in field of practice required. Minimum of one (1) year of teaching in higher education academic setting preferred. Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

If teaching clinical, Basic Life Support (CPR) certification is required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
