SUMMARY:

Manages activities relative to the administration of investment management accounts, personal trusts, IRAs, court-ordered guardianships and other fiduciary relationships in accordance with the terms of the trusts, wills, court orders or other governing documents. The incumbent will also develop and maintain competencies in financial planning and advisory services to provide the most ethical and sound financial guidance through all stages of the clients' life cycle. The incumbent will act as an advocate and trusted advisor to clients by facilitating all of their financial dealings with the Bank.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ACCOUNT ADMINISTRATION



  1. Coordinates activities relative to administering investment management accounts and a variety of trust accounts in accordance with their governing instruments, as well as state and federal tax and fiduciary laws. Locates, directs and coordinates the transfer and placement of funds, securities, and other assets into investment management and trust accounts.
  2. Performs in the role of a trusted financial advisor by coordinating and developing strategies to effectively deal with all aspects of the clients' financial situation. This includes financial, retirement and estate planning issues and involves working in concert with the clients' other advisors such as accountants and attorneys.
  3. Works closely with operations to initiate and coordinate activities relative to opening, on-boarding, processing and administering new account relationships.
  4. Directs and coordinates the disbursement of funds according to the conditions set forth in the accounts' governing instrument.
  5. Maintains active communication with Bank colleagues, clients, beneficiaries, co-fiduciaries and legal counsel. Responds to client inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  6. Participates on the Trust Administrative Committee to evaluate the acceptability of new trust accounts, determine the propriety of discretionary disbursements, and otherwise monitor the administration functions of the Trust and Asset Management Department.


PLANNING AND INVESTMENTS



  1. Works in conjunction with Financial Planning Associates to obtain client information necessary to prepare, develop and deliver financial planning and advisory services.
  2. Expands awareness and knowledge in all areas of financial planning, portfolio management and investment strategies.


COMPLIANCE



  1. Must maintain current knowledge and understanding of legal, tax and/or legislative changes that affect trust and investment activities.
  2. Must have knowledge of trustee responsibilities relative to investing trust assets, specific securities laws, OCC Regulation 9 and relevant ethical issues
  3. Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.


BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT



  1. Establishes network of appropriate contacts (i.e. CPAs, attorneys, financial planners, community leaders, etc.) to help ensure that new business accrues to the Bank.
  2. Assists in the education of Bank employees in order to encourage the identification and referral of qualified prospects to the department.
  3. Participates in meetings with prospects and clients to acquire new business for the Bank and aid in the retention of existing clients.
  4. Actively participates in community and professional organizations.


TEAM COLLABORATION



  1. Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other members of WMS and is willing to extend themselves beyond the general demands of the position.
  2. Participates on various committees as required on behalf of the business unit. Provides input and advice on process improvements and best practices.
  3. Provides support as necessary to promote the acquisition of new customers for the Bank
  4. Supports the efforts of the senior manager and other department managers in team building with other internal customer contact areas.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS: (Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position)



  • Bachelor's Degree. preferably in business, finance or accounting. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Professional certifications preferred include: CTFA, CFP, CPA and/or JD


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:1.



  • Minimum of five to eight years' experience in a bank trust department or related experience working with senior wealth management personnel. Financial planning experience and familiarity with planning software a plus.
  • Working knowledge of trust and IRA administration, fiduciary taxation and investments.
  • An intermediate knowledge and skill level with computer applications and a desire to learn new applications in support of departmental operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess the customer service ethic and core values of a Cape Cod 5 employee.
  • Commitment to continuing education.
  • Must have cyber security awareness to protect the digital environment, the Bank, and customers
