As a Learning Experience Designer, you will support the design and development of engaging, learner-centered experiences for IHOP Academy. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform learning objectives into intuitive, brand-aligned content that supports team member and manager development. This role blends instructional design, UX principles, and creative storytelling to enhance the effectiveness and usability of our training programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design digital and blended learning experiences that reflect IHOP's brand voice and support operational excellence.
  • Apply UX principles, design thinking, adult learning theory, and game-based learning to create intuitive, engaging content.
  • Develop multimedia learning assets including eLearning modules, interactive guides and manuals, checklists, job aids, and videos.
  • Acquire and maintain deep knowledge of IHOP's brand, operational standards, and team member roles to inform experience design.
  • Support the evolution of IHOP Academy by contributing to platform layout, navigation, and learner flow.
  • Write clear, engaging, and brand-aligned copy for learning modules, platform interfaces, and onboarding flows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and alignment.
  • Assist in analyzing learner feedback and usage data to inform design improvements.
  • Participate in usability testing and iterate based on learner insights and performance metrics.
  • Stay current on emerging learning technologies and UX trends and contribute ideas for continuous improvement of IHOP Academy's effectiveness and engagement.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables using tools like Smartsheet.
  • Uphold professional standards and contribute to a culture of inclusivity, creativity, and learner advocacy.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support IHOP Academy and the L&D team.
  • Target Salary $75k-$90k depending on experience

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, UX Design, Learning Experience Design, Organizational Development, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in learning design, with exposure to UX principles and digital platforms.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms and eLearning tools (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Vyond).
  • Basic video production and editing skills, including storyboarding, scripting, camera operation, sound, and lighting.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and accessibility standards.
  • Strong writing and visual storytelling skills, with attention to tone, clarity, and brand alignment.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring all content is polished, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience in hospitality or food service training environments is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools such as Smartsheet and Microsoft Copilot.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid setting (Tuesday-Thursday in office) and participate in in-person working sessions, meetings, team events, RSC events, and media production.
