The Portfolio Analyst is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of client investment strategies. Rebalance tax-sensitive portfolios, manage cash requests, and collaborate with Portfolio Managers and Trust Advisors to ensure portfolios remain aligned with client objectives and firm standards.

Job Functions:

  • Rebalance client portfolios across custodial platforms, applying knowledge of investment strategies, tax and estate planning concepts, and client-specific preferences. Exercise independent judgement when rebalancing, document portfolio idiosyncrasies and escalate complex trade-offs for Portfolio Manager review to ensure alignment with client objectives.
  • Manage the Cash Needs inbox, responding promptly to time-sensitive requests. Make decisions on appropriate trades for Portfolio Manager approval and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure timely execution.
  • Evaluate the quality of trades generated by rules-based rebalancing tools. Exercise discretion when identifying deficiencies and provide actionable feedback to improve system logic and trade outcomes.
  • Support block trade preparation and execution. Coordinate with Portfolio Managers and Trading Specialists to ensure alignment with client objectives.
  • Monitor client cash levels and portfolio drift. Prepare reports and proactively flag accounts requiring attention to the broader investment team.
  • Coordinate with Portfolio Managers and Trust Advisors to ensure portfolio data is accurate and up-to-date. Assist with the maintenance and auditing of all data related to rebalancing workflows, including documented investment guidelines, client preferences, and portfolio-specific notes.
  • Provide analytical support to all members of the investment team including updating quantitative tools and maintaining data in internal investment models.


Essential Competencies:

  • Quality assurance: exceptionally detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities and a high-volume workload. Demonstrates strong ownership of work, ensuring consistent follow-up and follow-through to maintain accuracy and reliability.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant work experience at an investment or financial services firm.
  • Superior communication and organizational skills. Proactive team player who asks thoughtful questions, seeks input when needed, and builds trust through transparency.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to manipulate large datasets, draw insights and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Deep sense of curiosity: open-minded and eager to learn the "why" behind their work. Seeks a deeper understanding of the portfolio management process, investment trade-offs, and client-specific circumstances.
  • Strong understanding of investment and portfolio management concepts, and familiarity with tax, trust and estate planning considerations.
  • Experience with portfolio trading and rebalancing preferred.
  • Familiarity with various custodial platforms (ideally SEI, Fidelity, and Schwab), portfolio management systems (specifically Redblack) and data aggregation tools like Addepar preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience using PowerPoint and Excel in a work environment.
