Primary Function Coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production schedules or department priorities. Reviews production schedules and confers with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and technicians to determine material required or overdue. Locates material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated material availability. Arranges and monitors transfer of materials to meet production schedules. Arranges repair and assembly of material and its distribution to various departments with department supervisors. Computes amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes to compile report of quantity and type of material on hand. Tracks material in process of production, using manual or computerized system. Works with all levels of personnel to further the objectives of the organization. Essential Duties
- Coordinate the movement of aircraft parts, assemblies, and tooling throughout the maintenance, modification, and flight operations lifecycle in accordance with established production and mission schedules.
- Review project and work order requirements to forecast material needs, shortages, and production constraints; develop and execute corrective actions to mitigate schedule impacts.
- Communicate daily with engineers, logistics personnel, and maintenance supervisors to verify material status, delivery progress, and disposition of nonconforming or repairable assets.
- Utilize inventory and lifecycle management systems (e.g., Costpoint, ERP, Customer-provided tracking systems) to initiate material requests, monitor supply status, and maintain accurate accountability records.
- Prepare purchase requisitions and coordinate with procurement and shipping/receiving to ensure timely delivery of parts and assemblies.
- Analyze production data, compile lifecycle metrics, and prepare reports summarizing material flow, usage rates, backlog conditions, and production variances.
- Monitor and expedite repair actions for reusable parts, ensuring return-to-service compliance and alignment with configuration management requirements.
- Support engineering change processes, coordinating replacement or modification of materials per approved engineering directives.
- Serve as liaison between production control, maintenance, and engineering to resolve supply or workflow issues that may impact aircraft readiness.
- Identify opportunities to streamline lifecycle processes, reduce lead times, and improve inventory accuracy and material forecasting.
- Ensure all documentation, part tracking, and reporting are in compliance with NASA, company, and contract requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of mission operations and contract objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities; however, the Lifecycle Coordinator exercises functional coordination authority over material and workflow processes involving multiple departments and personnel. May provide task direction or training to logistics clerks, technicians, or production control staff as required to meet operational goals.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of material management, production control, and lifecycle logistics principles within aerospace maintenance and modification environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, production work orders, bills of material (BOMs), and technical data packages.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams); experience with ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex, multi-departmental workflows and to communicate effectively across engineering, logistics, and production teams.
- Analytical skills to evaluate material flow data, identify bottlenecks, and recommend process improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to summarize technical data clearly for management and customers.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with NASA, DoD, or FAA aerospace maintenance documentation standards preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in material coordination, lifecycle management, logistics, or production control, preferably in an aerospace or government contracting environment.
- Experience supporting aircraft maintenance, modification, or engineering production schedules.
- Working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems for material requisition and tracking.
- Experience developing and maintaining inventory and material flow metrics.
- Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one.
- Experience supporting U.S. Government aviation contracts preferred.
