Job Description The Director of Small Business Administration Operations is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of the bank's SBA lending program, ensuring compliance with SBA guidelines, managing loan processing workflows, and supporting the delivery of high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders. This role serves as a key liaison between lending teams, credit, compliance, and external partners, ensuring smooth execution of SBA loan originations, closings, and servicing. Essential Functions
Loan Operations & Compliance Manage end-to-end SBA loan operations including packaging, closing, funding, and servicing. Ensure adherence to SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), bank policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate documentation and timely submission to SBA systems (e.g., E-Tran, CAFS). Process Management & Optimization Develop and implement efficient workflows for SBA loan processing and documentation. Monitor pipeline activity and ensure timely movement from commitment to closing/funding stages. Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and recommend process improvements. Team Leadership & Collaboration Supervise SBA Closing Manager, loan processors, closers, and support staff. Provide training and guidance on SBA procedures and compliance updates. Collaborate with business development officers, credit analysts, and legal teams to ensure seamless loan execution. Reporting & Audit Support Prepare and review operational reports, loan status updates, and performance metrics. Support internal and external audits, including SBA reviews and lender oversight. Maintain organized records and ensure readiness for file reviews and audits. Technology & Systems Oversight Manage SBA-related systems and platforms, ensuring data integrity and timely updates. Coordinate with IT and vendors to troubleshoot issues and implement system enhancements. Monthly 1502 Reporting Secondary Market Sale Preparation Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency Work as part of a team Work with on-site equipment
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree 5-6 years of experience with SBA loan operations within a banking or financial institution Strong understanding of SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs, eligibility, and documentation requirements Experience with SBA systems (E-Tran, CAFS, SBA One) and loan origination software. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with loan servicing and liquidation processes Familiarity with compliance and risk management in a banking environment Certified SBA Loan Specialist or similar designation
