Job Summary |
A Research Technician position is immediately available in the Gao Laboratory in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas. The successful candidate must i) be passionate about healthcare research, ii) demonstrate exceptional technical and communication skills in English, and iii) have previous experience in assisting with human subject research or animal research, including
IRB or
IACUC protocol compliance. The candidate will play a critical role in assisting with hands-on research in the field of biomedical engineering.
This is a 1-year position, renewable pending funding availability, satisfactory performance.

Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's degree in one of the basic sciences; Two years experience in scientific or experimental research work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree in biomedical engineering, materials science, biochemistry, pharmaceutics, and related fields.
- A minimum of two years of experience with wet lab equipment and related facilities.
- Experiences with human subject research and animal research.
- Experience collaborating with undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
- Prior experience with IRB protocol development and compliance under PI leadership
- Technical aptitude in any of the following: chemical synthesis, materials development, drug delivery, tumor or bleeding animal models.

Other Qualifications |
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Essential duties will include:
- Assisting in the development and management of IRB and/or IACUC protocols under the direct
- guidance of the PI
- Conduct wet-lab experiments and experiments involving animal research
- Perform informed consent in accordance with IRB protocols for research involving human subjects
- Collaborate with a team of student researchers, providing basic training as needed
- Maintain accurate and organized research documentation
- Ensure all activities are conducted ethically and in accordance with relevant regulatory standards
