The Space Dynamics Laboratory's (SDL's) Enterprise Application Support Team (EAST) is seeking a qualified college graduate or undergraduate Student Assistant to support business application development. The selected student will work with professional software engineering staff for required on-the-job training and mentoring.
Key duties will include:
- Interfaces with program team members, Technical Writers and Engineering Technicians as required
- Writes clean, consistent, well-documented code
- Implements, tests, and maintains code for internal customers
- Ensures that code meets end user requirements
- Collaborates with other Developers to ensure that new development projects integrate with existing applications and systems
- Provides operational support for existing systems
Applicants should demonstrate some proficiency and desire to improve the following skills:
- Knowledge of common programming languages
- Knowledge of Jira and Jira Service Management
- Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data modeling and database design
- Technical skills in programming, designing, systems development and testing
- Introductory level knowledge of common software development processes (version control, peer reviews, documentation standards)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective team relationships
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Utah State University student majoring in computer science, management information systems, or a related field
- Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summer
- Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, or other US person
- Ability to work independently with mentoring and as part of a collaborative team
- Must be reliable and responsible and have a strong work ethic
