The Production Manager leads all shifts of a production department in South Deerfield while continuously exceeding established department S,Q,D,C,I targets. Creates and sustains a positive work environment that has high levels of safety accountability, employee engagement, high morale, focus on data analytics, and collaborative interaction across all levels of the organization. Drives technical excellence in running, maintaining and optimizing the equipment and tooling and delivers exemplary performance across all aspects of the operation to drive Pelican's competitive edge in plastics manufacturing.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Plans, coordinates and directs daily manufacturing processes and operations teams in order to meet quality, delivery and cost goals. Coordinates daily and long-term activities with production, engineering, maintenance and quality to make critical decisions to meet the operational goals.


  • Models the concepts of "Operational Excellence" and transforms the department and culture into a state-of-the-art facility that supports and improves our recruitment and retention efforts as an employer of choice.


  • Drives continuous improvement education and events to ensure Safety, Efficiency, Elimination of Waste, Quality, and Delivery goals are achieved.


  • Creates and sustains an environment of 6S accountability driven by data points and floor-based visible management systems.


  • Drives an innovative approach to problem-solving: poke-yokes, pictograms, electronic / video driven work instructions, and other visible management tools to ensure associates have proper education and compliance / audit ability.


  • Responds with a sense of urgency to successfully deliver short and long-term business opportunities.


  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure that the business goals are achieved.


  • Leads all technical priorities and decision making for the Department with a high sense of urgency. Ensures issues are promptly handled and escalated if needed and ensures the team responds to abnormalities in a timely manner.


  • Drives and sustains a culture of safety excellence. Ensures that Pelican's first priority is understood that all employees and guests are safe and injury free. Driver safety initiatives such as ergonomics programs, risk assessments and always challenges the status quo by supporting safe behavior, new and improved work methods and changes in fixturing, tooling and equipment to achieve and sustain low TRIR and LTIR rates.


  • Manages, department operating budget; ensures achievement of financial objectives.


  • Leads and coordinates a wide variety of initiatives and projects designed to improve processes and performance.


  • Participates in new product development and/or product change initiatives.


  • Ensures effective employee relations, provides employee coaching and development to leaders and associates.


  • Develops and executes enhanced training program for new hires and cross-training.


  • Recommends and makes improvements in value stream machinery, equipment, and manufacturing methods. Provides capital investment recommendations to the leadership team.


  • Ensures that standard operating procedures are developed, executed, updated and posted in accordance with ISO guidelines in the areas.


  • Performs additional duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Business or other technical related field.


  • Minimum of 5 years production or plant management experience in a supervisory/leadership role.


  • Preferred experience with plastic injection molding or machining manufacturing operations.


  • Experience with TPS, ISO9001:2015, and lean manufacturing principles.


  • Must have practical experience implementing and leading Lean manufacturing principles.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office environment.


  • Experience with SAP is a plus.


  • Must be able to demonstrate creativity and ingenuity when solving problems and implementing best practices.


  • Proven track record of building a team, managing change, streamlining processes, and driving safety/quality/delivery / cost improvements.


  • Strong analytical problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.


  • Exceptional leadership interpersonal and organizational skills.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequentlyrequired to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. Stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequentlyrequired to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. Climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).


  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40pounds.


  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The annual U.S. pay range for this positionis listed below. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills,and experience.
