JOB DESCRIPTION: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and evaluating all external and internal functions of the Corporation. This position performs work independently under the general direction of the Board of Directors within established guidelines. As leader of the executive management team, the CEO provides strategic leadership, direction, and management for all functions of the corporation. Supports the Centerstone Mission, Vision and Values in delivering care that changes people's lives. Treats all clients and colleagues with dignity and respect. Communicates clearly and appropriately; provides excellent customer service. Adheres to applicable policies and procedures. Regular attendance and punctuality are required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs development of short and long range planning, associated goals, and objectives.
- Directs program staffing to assure adequate clinical and support skills to provide required services.
- Directs organization of clinical and administrative systems to provide effective and efficient operations.
- Monitors corporate operations to assure compliance with objectives, standards, regulations, and statutes.
- Advises Board of Directors of health care trends and events in external health care environment; and when necessary.
- Recommends related changes in plans, objectives, policies, and operations.
- Keeps Board of Directors advised of internal issues and trends which create organizational threats and opportunities.
- Serves as liaison between the Board and staff.
- Oversees operations, implements plans, and manages human and financial resources and physical resources of the organization.
- Oversees design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, products, and services.
- Treats all clients and colleagues with dignity and respect.
- Travel will be required to ensure the appropriate development of internal leadership relationships, service delivery aspects and local community relations. Travel will also be expected to attend system leadership meetings per annual schedule.
- Recommends yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manages organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations.
- Advocates and promotes the organization and its mission. Programs, products, and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders. Actively participates in national, state and local mental health, civic and community organizations. Develops and maintains relationships with local, state and national behavioral health organizations which serve the interests of the organization.
- Formulates policies and planning recommendations to the Board. Supports operations and administration of the Board by advising, making recommendations, and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff, and supporting the Board's evaluation of chief executive. Assists in the selection and evaluation of board members. Serves on other Boards and committees as deemed appropriate to the Board.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership in a non-profit organization.
- Ability to manage effectively in an organization with a participatory management style and philosophy.
- Ability to mentor subordinates to increase their knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant State statutes, regulations and systems, fund accounting, general financial and insurance systems.
- Knowledge of mental health treatment modalities, systems and issues, psychiatric hospital operations, risk management, quality assurance and program evaluation methods and issues.
- Knowledge of human resources management and issues; public relations and political lobbying experience; short and long range planning experience.
- Knowledge of key factors in effective Board operations.
QUALIFICATIONS Education Level Master's degree in healthcare or healthcare administration required. Years of Experience Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in senior management positions, preferably in the mental health or health administration field.
