SUMMARY

The Calibration Technician assists lead calibrators in field measurements of bulk liquid storage tanks and barges, by gathering and recording field data to support generation of volumetric capacity tables for the petrochemical industry. Requires frequent overnight travel across the U.S., the physical ability to climb structures, and comfortable with entering confined spaces.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To calibrate (strap) upright cylindrical tanks, horizontal, spheres, trucks, barges, ships, by various methods in accordance with API Standards.

  • Perform pipeline surveys.

  • Perform checks to determine accuracy of measuring equipment.

  • Inspects equipment visually for obvious defects.

  • Record all measurements on appropriate field reports.

  • Coordinate with customers in scheduling appointments.

  • Exercise safety requirements specified inSaybolt'sGlobal Safety Manual.

  • Attend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection, including Right-to-Know training.

  • Overnight travel throughout the U.S. is required as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (general education degree).

  • Experience is helpful but not required in the use of measuring equipment (i.e. Leica Total station, Rotating Laser Level, Leica Distometer, engineers' level, theodolite, strapping tapes, tape measure, surveyors' rods, etc.).

  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
