Job Description

Join our WIC team and help families build healthier futures! As a WIC Nutritionist, you'll provide nutrition education, counseling, and assessments for participants of all ages. You'll ensure WIC benefits are accessible, support positive health outcomes, and deliver exceptional customer service-all while maintaining program quality and confidentiality.

What You'll Do

  • Collect and assess nutrition data, including medical history and dietary intake, to determine program eligibility.

  • Provide participant-centered nutrition counseling and education.

  • Prescribe and issue WIC food benefits tailored to individual needs.

  • Refer participants to medical or community services for additional support.

  • Maintain accurate participant records, schedule appointments, and share program information.

  • Represent WIC at community events and health fairs to promote program awareness.

  • Collaborate with the WIC team to maintain efficient, welcoming clinic operations.

  • Assist in onboarding and training new WIC staff as needed.

  • Follow all agency, state, and federal guidelines to ensure compliance and quality.

  • Promote diversity, safety, and continuous quality improvement in every aspect of your work.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a nutrition-related field from an accredited college, including:

    • At least 15 semester hours in food and nutrition

    • One course in diet therapy or medical nutrition therapy

    • One course in community nutrition or nutrition in the life cycle
      (Nutrition courses must be AND-accredited.)

  • Strong verbal communication skills to interview clients and explain nutrition care plans.

  • Proficient computer skills (word processing and data entry).

  • Ability to present ideas clearly in writing and verbally.

  • Comfortable speaking to small and large groups.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and team members.

  • Ability to travel to corporate and community sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years' experience in community nutrition.

  • Bilingual competency preferred.
