As part of Detection and Measurement, Aids to Navigation, including Flash, Sabik Marine and Sealite, are leading providers of lighting and navigational aids for the marine, obstruction, and airfield end markets. Offering the broadest portfolio of solutions, we help people transverse the world safely by air, land, and sea.

Summary

SPX Aids to Navigation Buyer will be responsible for the management, and organization of a portion of the purchasing-related support activities with a total annualized spend of approximately 55 million for the Americas. The position will be responsible for ordering goods and services from qualified suppliers, monitoring inventory levels on a daily basis, using SAP and maintaining min/max levels of supermarket stock using the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) planning tool to proactively determine replenishment needs based on daily production requirements, as well as following Lean principles based on Lean inventory management philosophy. The Buyer will also work with the Quality team to issue RMA's to suppliers for defective components, and ensure that these are issued out of inventory in a timely manner. Other duties include participating in the quarterly supplier scorecard review and providing input, supporting the risk management program and gathering the information needed to support strategic sourcing initiatives. Communication and teamwork are paramount to success for this position.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Analyze usage, supplier lead times and material availability to ensure zero downtime on production floor
  • Share usage and stock levels with key supply chain partners on a weekly basis in order to promote a Just-in-Time inventory management approach
  • Support inventory turns target by ordering according to Lean principles of small, frequent delivery batches from suppliers
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels in the organization
  • Support special supply chain projects and initiatives
  • Analyze and manage supply chain data by leveraging SAP and the PFEP
  • Support and proactively manage material obsolescence processes
  • Communicate both verbally and written correspondence with a high level of professionalism
  • Communicate all potential supply chain and supplier issues to leadership with a sense of urgency and propose solutions
  • Maintain safe and organized work area and support all safety policies

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • High level of energy and initiative
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing global supply chain sourcing processes, tools and practices
  • Experience with export/import regulations
  • Strong analytical, statistical and problem solving skills
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate level Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive business information
  • Knowledge of Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Capacity Planning (CP), Bills of Materials (BOM), and Materials Required Planning (MRP)
  • Ability to manage projects and meet targets
  • Excellent time management and organization skills

Education & Experience:

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing organizations
  • Experience with PCB design/procurement

Preferred Education / Experience

  • Experience with SAP ERP system
  • CPM/CPIM or similar certification
