UNC Chatham Hospital is seeking a motivated Per Diem Pharmacist to join our close-knit and highly engaged pharmacy team. We are a critical access hospital with an efficient pharmacy footprint that offers pharmacists a wide range of clinical and operational professional opportunities.

Practice Environment:Pharmacy is a valued clinical resource at UNC Chatham. Our pharmacists practice at the top of their license in a collaborative environment with strong physician and interdisciplinary team relationships. This role is ideal for pharmacists who enjoy meaningful clinical involvement while maintaining operational competency.

Shift Responsibilities: Per diem pharmacists will participate in both clinical and operational duties, including:

  • Verifying medication orders using the EPIC electronic health recordRounding with physician teams
  • Responding to code situations
  • Providing clinical support and recommendations
  • Checking batched sterile and non-sterile products
  • Supporting daily pharmacy operations as needed

Pharmacy Hours:UNC Chatham Pharmacy is not a 24-hour operation:Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Weekends & Holidays: 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Scheduling & Expectations: This position will be one of seven per diem pharmacists currently employed at UNC ChathamMinimum requirement: one shift every 90 days to maintain per diem statusPharmacists are welcome to work as frequently as desired and can pick up open shifts that are sent out to staff in 3 month blocksWeekend shifts will be the primary needOccasional weekday coverage will be available, with at least one weekday opportunity available per week beginning in February-March of this year

Education Requirements:
* PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment. Recent graduates of ACPE-accredited colleges/schools of pharmacy may fill this role while pending initial pharmacist licensure, but are subject to limitations mandated by the NC Board of Pharmacy and must obtain licensure within 6 months of orientation or sooner if required for operations.
