About the Role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities by providing compassionate and personalized care. This position focuses on supporting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and fostering community integration. The DSP will work closely with clients to understand their unique needs and preferences, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Through consistent and respectful interaction, the DSP helps clients achieve their personal goals and maintain their dignity. Ultimately, this role contributes to empowering individuals to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives within their communities.


Job Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and mobility support.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to promote clients' social skills and community participation.
  • Monitor and document clients' progress, behaviors, and any changes in health or well-being, reporting concerns promptly to supervisors.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and respectful living environment that meets all regulatory and organizational standards.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass background checks and any required health screenings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and reliability.
  • Basic understanding of safety and emergency procedures.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Training in behavior management or related fields.
  • Familiarity with community resources and support services.
  • Post-secondary education in human services, social work, or a related discipline.
