Job Description
General Purpose of Job: The Clinical Practice Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of multiple practice sites. This includes, but is not limited to staffing, systems, patient flow, expense management and other functions required to maintain effective service oriented practices Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Performs all management responsibilities for SSJPA multi-specialty group practice. Practice specialties include: SSJPA Family Practice, SSJPA Internal Medicine, SSJPA Surgeons, SSJPA Cardiology, SSJPA Ophthalmology, SSJPA MMP OB/GYN and SSJPA After Hours Clinic
- Management of contracts, leases, and relationships with consultant suites: Allergy, Urology, Podiatry, Nephrology, OB/GYN, Hand Surgery
- Works with Medical Director and practice physicians in maintaining physician work schedules, call coverage and time off
- Determines staffing needs required. Selects, trains, and supervises, evaluates and disciplines site staff. Processes time records and all other Associate records. Orients and oversees the continuing education of practice Associates
- Develops and implements systems to ensure the smooth efficient, on-going operations of the practice. Ensures that provider and patient needs are met
- Develops and monitors key performance indicators on a regular basis. Recommends action plans to correct any negative variances
- Works in conjunction with SMG to improve revenue cycle process and to ensure that data input and collection procedures are appropriately followed. Serves as resource to SMG for billing questions
- Develops, implements, monitors, and reports quality assurance standards, department improvement activities, and patient satisfaction programs for the site
- Monitors budget performance on a monthly basis
- Establishes policies, procedures and protocols necessary to accomplish daily tasks, processes and long range goals
- MiPCT development, implementation, education and maintenance, including implementation of care management
- Patient Centered Medical Home implementation, education and maintenance
- Management and oversite of all payer incentive arrangements, eg., BCN Pay for Performance, PHP, Triple Aim, PGIP, SPHN, etc.
- Meaningful use registration, monitoring, educating and attestation
- Coordinates activities of new physicians. Works with SMG credentialing to obtain insurance numbers, orients to practice and hospital departments, patient schedule, facility, equipment and space needs; coordinates marketing activities with Marketing and Communications Director
- Works with Accounting manager in maintaining monthly activity, financial and Board reports on a monthly basis
- In conjunction with hospital Risk Manager, follows up and resolves all patient complaints
- Communicates with Medical Director, other providers, staff and President on a regular basis. Works with Medical Director and President in developing practice goals and a plan to accomplish them
- Ensures logs are maintained regarding physician contractual issues (time off, CME, dues and expenses paid, etc.)
- Oversees ordering practices and invoice approval done by administrative and clinical supervisors
- Works with hospital departments to ensure continuity of service and patient care
- Works with SCH and Marketing and Communications Director to market and promote the practice and SSJPA physicians
- Coordinates the development of educational materials and protocols for clinical practice
- Facilitates positive communication, and serve as a liaison between the practice site and the Sparrow Health System, outside agencies and community groups
- Ensures that established policies, procedures, fire, safety, OSHA guidelines and accrediting body regulations are updated and followed in the practice
- May perform all duties of a RN as defined on the RN job description
Job Requirements

Current State of Michigan license to practice as a RN |
Work Experience |
Minimum of one year experience managing practice with 6 or more providers Minimum three years increasing responsibility in ambulatory care setting Minimum three years experience in a nursing position that required clinical judgment and critical experience Supervisory experience in multiple physician practice preferred Previous experience with physician practice budget and billing processes preferred |
Education |
Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing, Business or a related field |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
Demonstrated ability to formulate effective nursing care plans Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and strong attention to detail Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective interpersonal skills Ability to provide care for clients which is age-specific to meet their physical and safety needs, psychosocial concerns and educational level Visual and auditory acuity necessary to monitor patients conditions and operate office equipment Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job. |
