Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure and services to support the organization's cybersecurity objectives. Integrate security best practices into cloud architectures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and proactively protecting cloud-hosted assets against evolving threats. Collaborate closely with cybersecurity teams, Enterprise Architecture, IT operations, application developers, and business stakeholders to drive secure cloud adoption and to optimize the performance, scalability, and resilience of cloud environments.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

What you'll do as a Sr Cloud Security Engineer:

  • Develop and deploy secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions, embedding security controls throughout the architecture in alignment with industry frameworks and organizational policies.
  • Implement and maintain secure configurations for cloud resources (compute, storage, networking, identity) using tools such as infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM) and automated compliance checks.
  • Partner with application teams, DevOps, and IT to integrate security requirements into CI/CD pipelines and guide secure development practices.
  • Integrate cloud-native and third-party security tools (e.g., GuardDuty, Security Center, Chronicle, Defender) to monitor for threats, vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and unauthorized access.
  • Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to investigate and respond to security incidents in the cloud, performing log analysis and contributing to root cause assessments.
  • Ensure that cloud workloads and services are regularly scanned for vulnerabilities and that patching processes are automated and tracked for compliance.
  • Support audits and assessments by maintaining documentation, evidence, and reporting to demonstrate compliance with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks, and applicable regulations.
  • Develop and maintain clear technical documentation, security standards, and runbooks for cloud environments and processes.
  • Stay current on emerging cloud technologies and cyber threats, recommending improvements to cloud security posture and participating in proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable cloud architectures that support and protect AI workloads, ensuring resilience, compliance, and defense against emerging threats targeting AI systems in cloud environments
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you'll bring as a Sr Cloud Security Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Five or more years of experience in cloud engineering, cybersecurity, or infrastructure engineering with a focus on secure cloud deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) including deploying, managing, and securing cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration Automation & Response (SOAR), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC, OSCP, CRISC) preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
