About the Team

You'll be joining the North America Controllership team-an integral part of Visa's Global Finance organization. We're the engine behind the financial operations of Visa's largest market, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight across accounting activities. The team is part of the broader Global Controllership function within Global Finance.

About The Role

We're seeking a forward-thinking Accounting Manager to lead and elevate our North America Controllership team. In this high-impact role, you'll drive operational excellence, lead a talented team, and champion innovation through automation and process transformation. You'll oversee critical accounting functions including Leases, Revenue, and Corporate Services, while playing a key role in shaping the future of our general ledger team.

This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on leader who combines strategic thinking with operational execution and is excited about transforming accounting through automation, process improvement, and AI.

Location

This role is based in Foster City, CA, with an on-site presence required three days per week (Tuesday-Thursday).

What You'll Do

  • Lead with purpose: Inspire and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Own the close: Oversee the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting deliverables.

  • Drive transformation: Spearhead automation and process enhancements to streamline operations, reduce close timelines, and implement scalable automations and AI-powered solutions.

  • Strengthen controls: Ensure robust internal controls and SOX compliance, supporting audit readiness and documentation excellence.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with FP&A, Tax, Finance Systems, and operational teams to simplify and scale financial processes.

  • Support SEC reporting: Assist in preparing quarterly reporting packages that feed into our external filings.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • CPA or bachelor's degree in accounting
  • ASC 842 and ASC 606 experience
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance, and internal controls
  • Proven experience managing both onshore and offshore teams
  • Passion for accounting transformation and emerging technologies like AI
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Hands-on, proactive approach-you're as comfortable in the details as you are in strategic discussions
  • Proficiency with Oracle, CoStar, and Blackline
Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 129,200.00 to 187,350.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
