The Earth Commons Academic Postdoctoral Fellowship Georgetown University: Main Campus: Graduate School of Arts & Sciences: Earth Commons Location: Main Campus Open Date: Oct 14, 2025 Deadline: Nov 21, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description The Earth Commons Academic Postdoctoral Fellowship Fall 2026 Georgetown University Capitol Campus: Earth Commons Institute Location: Washington, DC Open Date: October 2nd 2025 Application Deadline: November 21st 2025 The Earth Commons Academic Postdoctoral Fellowship - Georgetown University The Earth Commons; Georgetown University's Institute for Environment and Sustainability (ECo) invites applications for postdoctoral academic fellowships for start dates of Fall 2026. ECo Fellows will be expected to carry out interdisciplinary research on various aspects of environment and sustainability challenges and scholarship (e.g., climate and climate change, biodiversity conservation, food and water security, environmental justice). Applicants must propose to conduct interdisciplinary research with one or more Earth Commons faculty or affiliated faculty. Additionally, ECo Fellows will have one semester of teaching responsibilities in the Earth Commons Institute's undergraduate BS-ES curriculum during their fellowship. Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded for two years, although year two is contingent upon successful progress in year one. Appointment will commence in September 2026. In accepting the appointment, the fellow is expected to be in residence at Georgetown University except for absences agreed upon with mentor(s). Application Instructions Applicants should have developed a proposed area of research in collaboration with an Earth Commons Affiliate Member . Applications submitted without this will not be considered. Particularly strong proposals will include faculty mentors from multiple departments or schools within Georgetown University. Application will be in two rounds. For stage 1 of the submission process, candidates are asked to provide an initial submission of a proposal project abstract (more details below), CV, and cover letter. Materials must be submitted by Friday, November 21st 2025. Following an initial review, those who are selected to advance will be invited to submit a full proposal in mid-November. Abstract is not to exceed 250 words (12pt font, double spaced), and must include a description of the research, including explicit question/hypothesis you plan to undertake. Ensure to include a clear justification for conducting your project/research with the identified faculty members (s). A list of prospective Georgetown Faculty mentors can be found here. Salary for the position is $65,000, in addiiton to a research stipend. About The Earth Commons.
