Job Summary

Supports and facilitates the operations of the University by ensuring a safe, functional, learning environmental for the continued growth of our students and the community.

  • Assist with maintenance and repair of work orders in references to various trades.
  • Conducts routine preventive maintenance inspections of the system making temporary or permanents repairs when possible and reporting all defects that may not be handled during a regular shift
  • Operate university vehicle in the collection of recyclable materials. Works with the forklift in the warehouse and wherever it is necessary on campus (required forklift certification). Works with the electric pallet jack in the warehouse and conduct supplies deliveries to the buildings (custodial zones).
  • Collects all recyclables that need to be brought to the recycling compound for separation and processing.
  • Performs a schedule of recycling collection from the university facilities including classrooms, offices, open areas, labs, etc. Organize and maintain inventory in warehouse and custodial supply closets.
  • Maintains recycling and sanitation sites in a clean and sanitary condition. Assists with laundry services for the microfiber pads and other items to be washed.
  • Assists with deliveries and pick-ups for customer requests on confidential bins, boxes, batteries, cartridges, palettes, etc.
  • Assists in removing collected solid waste and recyclables from custodial closets and transferring it the dumpsters/recycling compound.
  • Assists when needed in performing general and detailed cleaning of all types of building spaces and surfaces while maintaining proper cleaning and chemical procedures and guidelines.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator. Participates in weekend rotation and may be required to cover important University events beyond regular hours and regular schedule.
  • Performs general emergency duties connected to any and all aspects of related work such as but not limited to hurricane protection, water and/or fire damage and other types of emergencies. Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
