Description

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Responsible for a wide variety of analyses related to planning and optimization around state and federal emissions reduction programs, including but not limited to: Washington Carbon Allowances and Offsets, Renewable Natural Gas/Renewable Thermal Certificates, and Oregon Community Climate Investments. Participates in both short-term and long-term renewable resource planning by utilizing existing advanced computer software models and building new models as needed. Responsible for accounting for renewable resource procurements and sales, both through primary market transaction recording and secondary market trading transactions. Verification, reconciliation and documentation of all third party invoices. Analyzes contract information and maintains Master Compliance Tracker.







MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Must possess a working knowledge of Washington's Climate Commitment Act and Oregon's Climate Protection Program, an understanding of internal control concepts, and business principles and theory normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, business administration or a related field.
  • Three years of analyst/renewables experience.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS


  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • May be required to maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
  • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • An understanding of energy commodity markets.
  • Thorough knowledge of gas supply, transportation and operations of natural gas pipeline and storage facilities.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Prepares analyses relating to renewable resource acquisition and optimization for both physical and financial portfolios. Develops comprehensive analyses and other business reports utilizing existing models to provide documentation for resource decisions.
  • Verifies all third party and gas supply invoices for renewables transactions and reconciles any differences. Responsible for reconciliation of transactions with Accounting department, including mark-to- market calculations and hedges, including financial derivatives.
  • Prepares and monitors regular status reports regarding specific renewables contract information. Provides proper documentation of all renewables transactions and maintenance of original documents as resources for reporting and responding to various audit exceptions requests to meet Company's system, contractual and regulatory obligations. Responds to routine and non-routine renewable resources data requests.
  • Assist Renewable Resources Manager in negotiations of contract arrangements for renewable supplies for the Company's core market consistent with the approved portfolio design.
  • Assist environmental department in preparation of various monthly/annual reports and filings for U.S. and Canadian governmental agencies.
  • Perform other tasks and other special projects as assigned.
