About the Job

This part-time faculty position is responsible for University of Minnesota online course instruction as appointed by the Individualized Degrees Unit in the College of Continuing and Professional Studies (CCAPS). The teaching specialist in this role co-teaches the ICP 4101 Senior Experience course. The position includes requirements for teaching, course curriculum updates, and professional development. Teaching Specialists report to the Director of Undergraduate Programs and are typically contracted on a semester basis to teach at least one course per academic year.

This course is for students in their final year of either the Inter-College Program or the Health and Wellbeing Sciences major. The primary takeaway of this course is an e-portfolio,
for which students will revisit and synthesize the most meaningful of their academic artifacts and experiences. Through this process, students will demonstrate their recently acquired critical thinking and analytical skills. They will contextualize these experiences to establish or reaffirm a plan to launch them into the next phase of career and academic development. Students must have a fully approved proposal and degree plan.

Please note, we are not offering H1-B sponsorship or green card sponsorship for this position.

1. Co-teach/Teach one to three sections of the ICP 4101 Senior Experience course, a 2-credit degree proposal-related career readiness course, designed exclusively for students pursuing individualized degrees.
2. The instructor(s) for this course will need to fulfill University policies and apply course-appropriate effective practices: setting high expectations; supporting achievement with clear
instructions, examples and samples; establishing frequent, regular contact with students; grading and returning coursework promptly with relevant formative and/or summative
feedback; engaging students in relevant collaborative work; and submitting final grades on time.
3. Revise course content or provide input as appropriate.
4. Stay current in the fields of online instruction and career readiness, and participate in activities to support professional development, faculty community dialogue, self-assessment, and teaching reviews.
5. Hold weekly office hours, virtually and/or in person, that are reasonably responsive to student schedules.
6. Liaise with advising staff as needed to resolve course- or student-related situations that require support or resources outside the classroom.
