Join our dynamic and mission-driven team at the Transgenic Genotyping Service (TGS) as a Laboratory Technologist I. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals passionate about genetics and laboratory science, looking to grow within a collaborative and innovative environment. You will perform essential genotyping procedures, operate sophisticated equipment, and contribute to the generation of high-quality data that supports cutting-edge research.

The salary range is $22.04-$31.96. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Shift information: These positions are Monday-Friday onsite. There is some flexibility with start and end times but the hired candidates will need to be available until 5:30pm (EST) one day per week as part of a duty rotation. During a portion of training the shift is fixed at 9:00am-5:30pm (EST) for 2-4 weeks.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Perform laboratory procedures with limited oversight, including DNA extraction and PCR-based genotyping.
  • Conduct data analysis and generate accurate reports.
  • Independently manage work queues and shared lab tasks on a rotational basis.
  • Troubleshoot assays and critically review data for accuracy and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, safety protocols, and biosecurity standards.
  • Collaborate across teams and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience within a laboratory preferred.
  • Understanding of Mendelian genetics and basic molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures preferred.
