Salary range:
The salary range for this position is $80,800 - $270,000. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Irvine invites applications from outstanding candidates for the Edward and Vivian Thorp Endowed Chair. The Thorp Chair is provided to recruit a world-renowned mathematician who can bring eminence, visibility, and leadership to the mathematics department at UCI.

Candidates must demonstrate strong research accomplishments in mathematics and recognized international reputation as an eminent figure in their field. Successful candidates must also demonstrate leadership, a proven record of mentoring graduate students, and evidence of excellence in teaching.
