The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Senior Instructional Designer, AONL Education for our Chicago office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).

Starting base salary = $90,000- $112,000- $134,000 (commensurate with related experience). The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

The Senior Instructional Designer, AONL Education is responsible for assessing, designing, developing, executing and evaluating educational programs for the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) that enable members and non-member nurse leaders to acquire the leadership knowledge and skills required to drive innovation and success in health care. Collaborate with team members and subject matter experts on the development of educational programs through a variety of learning modalities, including eLearning, instructor-led, video-based and print resources. Manage the Learning Management System to upload and manage content, generate usage reports, provide user support, and stay current with new modalities and systems to enhance and elevate AONL educational programs.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Design and develop engaging and interactive content and instructional materials for educational programs for AONL membership as well as non-member nurse leaders, including asynchronous e-Learning, on demand, in person and print/website resources.
  • Diversify education offerings to meet the needs of learners as well as generate revenue through use of multiple formats (print, audio, visual and multimedia) as well as new modalities (adaptive learning, distance learning and gamification).
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure that content is accurate and thorough.
  • Responsible for the Learning Management System (LMS), the digital platform for online learning, including curriculum management, user support and vendor relations.
  • Collaborate with other AONL team members, member-led groups (MLGs) and faculty to ensure for successful online educational program execution and delivery.
  • Measure learner engagement and educational program success through utilization of member feedback and data analytics. Evaluate results of educational programs and identify modifications to meet educational goals. Collaborate with team members to revise existing programs or create new programs.
  • Document and inventory educational content assets, tools, images, video and final products.
  • Keep abreast of instructional design trends, technologies and best practices and incorporate as appropriate when developing AONL programs.
  • Work in conjunction with education team to create and execute annual meeting that is relevant and engaging to AONL members.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in related field of Adult Education (required)
Experience
5 years: *Experience with instructional design and development of Experience designing education for adult learning programs including but not limited to courses that are delivered virtually, on-demand, in-person, and online
*Advanced experience with learning technology including media design, authoring software and gamification experience or similar
*Prior experience working with Learning Management Systems, user support, and program management
