Ball State University is searching for a assistant director to decision international applications and recruit prospective international students by traveling abroad when needed. What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function

In collaboration with the Director of Graduate and International Recruitment and Admissions, support the Graduate and International Admissions unit's commitment to attracting and recruiting a qualified graduate and international student body, by actively participating in recruitment and admissions initiatives, and meeting the university's overall enrollment goals. In concert with the Director, develop strategies for recruitment and relationship building with high schools, higher education institutions, counselors, teachers and students. Make admissions decisions for international undergraduate students. Assist with pre-arrival, arrival, and orientation processes.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. In collaboration with the Director, develop a recruitment strategy that involves selecting regions to visit and planning the timing and schedule of visits. Maintain relationships with counselors at international schools/colleges, advisors, and organizations to ensure a steady flow of qualified students. Evaluate recruitment markets and contribute to achieving enrollment targets.

2. Travel domestically and internationally to recruit students; manage graduate and international recruitment travel by planning and executing a combination of international high school/college visits, college fairs, and other recruitment in-person or online events.

3. Assess the eligibility of international applicants by evaluating their academic credentials, make admissions decisions for international undergraduate students, and provide appropriate follow-up

4. Represent Ball State University to prospective students, their families, guidance counselors, and other key stakeholders in the college selection process. Effectively communicate with varied audiences, provide guidance to prospective students and their families, make decisions on appropriate follow-up actions, and consistently maintain a positive and professional image of Ball State University.

5. Collaborate on the development and dissemination of emails, digital marketing campaigns, print materials, and social media posts to engage prospective students. Ensure consistent and clear messaging across all communication channels to enhance the institution's brand and attract high-quality applicants.

6. Oversee updates to the relevant website and digital resources, such as EducationUSA. Ensure that the whole team is knowledgeable about current trends in education and admissions.

7. Assist the Director of Graduate and International Student Recruitment and Admissions in developing and maintaining regular reports on the status of all recruitment efforts in meeting the university's student enrollment goals. .

8. Support and coordinate various admissions programs, including on and off-campus recruitment, yield, orientation, and special events.

9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and/or university by time of appointment.

At least one year of professional work experience in education at a college or university.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral) with a customer service orientation; demonstrated and strong commitment to the mission of the University; ability to speak before large groups or audiences; attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and possess strong problem-solving skills; comfort and experience with computer technology; ability to load and transport admissions materials; willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and overnights during recruitment seasons; ability to possess and maintain a valid passport and U.S. driver's license, and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in student affairs, education, communication, or related field.

Experience working with and presenting to a varied student constituency; foreign language proficiency; basic knowledge of F & J visa requirements; travel experience (domestic & international), experience studying and/or living abroad or working with people from other cultures.
