What we do:

The Client Services, Retail Strategy Team is focused on driving strategic client success and enhancing adoption of The Trade Desk by deeply understanding the business needs of retailers. Our team provides long-term growth solutions against retail enterprise & retail media network business objectives that open net-new growth opportunities for The Trade Desk. We understand our clients' strategy, financials, and market trends allowing us to make informed recommendations that guides decision makers towards new, innovative paths to success. As technical experts in The Trade Desks platform and capabilities, the Director of Client Service - Retail Strategy will utilize this knowledge to build revenue and efficiency driving solutions for our clients. This role will be able to seamlessly adjust from high level strategic vision to tactical execution to achieve our clients' and TTD's goals.

What you'll do:



  • Manage a portfolio of business across key strategic clients alongside teammates on Account Management, Trading, and Business Development teams
  • Study your client's business opportunities, challenges and growth strategies to advise on strategic integrations across data, technology and business processes
  • Build and collaborate with clients on strategic growth plans across multi-year horizons and guide peers across account team towards execution of strategy
  • Balance strategic growth plans with short-term objectives to meet or exceed planned revenue goals
  • Influence & execute corporate level strategy by driving growth with key clients
  • Lead cross-division client communication, projects, and deliverables
  • Use creative and strategic problem-solving skills to find solutionsthat are mutually beneficial to TTD and our clients
  • Support Business Development in pitching, executive top-to-topsand upstream meetings specifically related to strategic drivers of ours and clients businesses
  • Lead the involvement of the Client Services team inRFPs/RFIs/Questionnaires
  • Possess innate understanding of the varied business modelsemployed by clients, ability to capture essence of a problem andresults-driven mindset to build a solution
  • Constantly review and optimize workflow and processes for healthof client's business, which involves project management of cross-functional teams
  • Quickly develop business acumen across assigned verticals &advertisers with ability to become trusted subject matter expert
  • Help to create and/or optimize ways of working and client-facingplaybooks
  • Contribute to global account ownership for performance againstrevenue targets and P&L management
  • Build, maintain, and execute engagement plans, both internally &externally, with clients and partners
  • Inform our product roadmap and the global client services vision &strategy
  • Work closely with the client services team(s) to develop andexecute an onboarding plan that will drive customer success withour programmatic buying platform
  • Govern global strategy, planning, and relationships for long-termgrowth of key global partners
  • Create and evangelize thought-leadership
  • Contribute to global account ownership for performance againstrevenue targets and P&L management
  • Build, maintain, and execute engagement plans, both internally & externally, with clients and partners


Who you are:



  • 10 years relevant experience in media or a related industry, ideally with strong programmatic experience. Experience in retail sector a plus. Experience in consulting or consultative roles a plus. MBA Preferred.
  • Extensive experience in developing, nurturing and managing client strategy and executive-level relationships and C-Suite relationships
  • Technology vertical experience in a sales, account management, agency or client side role previously
  • Proven track-record in designing and executing client multi-year engagements and growth plans
  • Successful in creating and evangelizing new thought leadership, ways of working or customer-facing solutions
  • Ability to build strong, influential relationships with internal and externalstakeholders, executive teams, and industry groups through superb communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to grasp and communicate with gravitas on media,marketingand technical subject matter
  • Understanding of marketing strategies and how media, programmatic, data, measurement and technology fit into the full picture
  • Technical fluency and ability to think creatively about how disparate systems, platforms and data streams could be integrated to serve client objectives
  • Excellent influencing andnegotiation skills
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail


CO, CA, IL, NY, WA, and Washington DC residents only: In accordance with CO, CA, IL, NY, WA, and Washington DC law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is
$111,900 $205,200 USD
